Distinctive Capabilities
To build on our ability to provide a comprehensive building service through our own directly employed workforce supported, where necessary, by regular specialist sub-contractors. To expand our niche in the local market, above the small builders, by emphasizing our ability to tackle larger, more complex jobs, adequately resource them and finish them on time and to high quality standards, with minimum disruption to clients.
Company identity
To been seen to be reliable, respectful, professionals. To be recognized as a company with the personal touch, where clients can deal directly with a Director, and one which will offer sound professional and practical advice, rather than that based solely on maximizing profits. To maintain a reputation for harmony in our relationships with clients, and a team of people dedicated to getting jobs done well, without hassle. To maintain clients’ trust and confidence in both the Company and its individual employees.
Markets
To build on our relationships with local private sector clients and Architects and use these links and references from satisfied clients, to broaden our select client base. To maximize the promotional opportunities arising from Investors in People recognition and to emphasize the qualifications and professionalism of our workforce.
People
To maintain a well-trained, multi-skilled and flexible workforce capable of responding to our clients’ needs. To treat all our employees with respect and make them feel part of the business and proud to work for the Company. To provide our employees with challenges and job satisfaction, encourage them to develop their potential to the maximum and provide them with appropriate training and development opportunities. To continue our ongoing apprentice training programme. To ensure that all our employees continue to receive appropriate health & safety training. To achieve recognition as an Investor in People.
Operational
To improve the communication between site and office, to include details of on site training / ‘hands on’ instruction. To achieve continual gradual improvements in planning, organizing and control of work and build on what we already do well. To review feedback from the ‘Job Chats’ and identify areas for possible improvements.
Commercial / Financial
To continue to operate the firm along current lines and seek relatively modest growth which can initially be controlled by the current management team. To maintain a sound cash flow situation, develop and improve, whilst generating operating profits.

3. SHORT/MEDIUM TERM TARGETS

Conduct ‘Job Chats’ with all employees.
Prepare a Training and Development Plan and submit to CITB by the end of December 2006.
Implement the 2006 / 2007 Training & Development Plan.
Recruit a further apprentice.
Implement at least three improvements identified as a result of the ‘Job Chats’
Carry out further ‘Job Chats’ at six monthly intervals.
Achieve Investors in People recognition by July 2007.
